If Outlook Express stops responding and sits for a long time on a message when retrieving your email, it is usually caused because someone sent you an overly large attachement. If you restart Outlook Express and retrieve mail again, it will lock up again on the same message and you may see duplicate messages in your inbox.
Outlook Express has trouble downloading messages larger than approximately 800kb on a dialup connection. You can view and delete these messages from our mail server so that your Outlook Express will not try to download them by using our web-based email service. If you don't see any mail, you may need to wait 10 - 15 minutes for the "POP Lock" that keeps multiple computers from checking mail simultaneously to clear and log in again. (This would also be a good time to delete any spam messages that you see so you won't need to download them into Outlook Express.)
If you do not see a large attachment in your list of mail, then it may be that one of the messages in your mailbox is corrupt. Using webmail, delete all the messages that you know have already been downloaded into your Outlook Express and any spam messages you see. If you are still unable to download messages with Outlook Express call our support center at 1-800-683-5731.
