Our High-Speed Dial-up service is ideal for users who do not have DSL access in their area, or just want basic access to the Internet.
Andiamo Telecom is now offering High-Speed Internet to all dialup customers at no extra charge. Most ISPs charge between $5 and $7 per month for this service. Some even charge for tech support. Andiamo Telecom includes it in your basic service, and we never charge you for tech support.
High-Speed Dialup uses your regular dialup connection to provide web surfing up to FIVE TIMES FASTER than regular dialup for people who either can’t get, or don’t want or need, a broadband connection.
Andiamo Telecom Accelerator is a combination of our high-speed dialup servers and a small program that runs on your computer. This takes advantage of the fact that data travels across the Internet from the web site to our servers much faster than it can be transmitted from our servers to your computer over the phone lines. Once the web page is at our accelerated servers, Andiamo Telecom Accelerated Internet speeds up your web browsing in three ways:
- Compression - Graphics & text are compressed on our servers before being delivered to your computer. This means that less information has to be sent via your 56k connection. You can adjust the level of compression depending upon your speed vs. quality requirements.
- Caching - Your web browser stores web pages and graphics on your computer so they don’t have to be retrieved from the Internet every time you visit a web page. Andiamo Telecom Accelerated goes one step further by using better caching technology that not only stores web pages, but also "web page elements" that may be common to more than one web page. This translates into less data being sent through your phone line. That’s why the longer you use Andiamo Telecom Accelerated, the faster your web pages will load.
- Persistent Connections - Every time you view a web page, your browser must open a separate connection to the Internet for each object that it downloads. This means that for every individual thing that a web page needs to display (the web page itself, all graphics, any Java scripts & programs, Flash, sounds, etc.) your computer needs to open a new connection to the web page. Since Andiamo Telecom Accelerated pre-processes web sites, it is able to manage these connections more efficiently, opening far fewer than would be necessary for a standard web browser.
Andiamo Telecom High-Speed Dialup accelerates text (all HTML, markup, and Javascript), most graphics and photos, most banner ads (including animated gif images and Macromedia Flash), all browser-based email (Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, etc.), and any email that contains images even when read in a dedicated email program (Outlook Express, etc.). MP3s and other files will also be accelerated when downloaded from within your web browser. Streaming media, secure pages (online banking, secure forms, etc.), and files downloaded outside your browser (FTP, file sharing programs, download managers, etc.) will not be accelerated.
